I came to realize the a lot of story writers are usually evil, they take a character who probably had a happy life before the story and just mess everything up for them.
For example, let's say there was a young boy with a loving family, then the story writer decides to kill of his family and make him an orphan. That story writer ruined that kid's life just so they can tell a story. However it is unavoidable and does produce good results.
